We have to be there at WHAT time??

The premier wasn't until Monday night. The girls wanted to leave for the theater by 6am, SUNDAY! Do the math. We got up at 5am, was on our way by 6am and we were sitting in front of the Starbucks next to the theater by 7am.

There was no line yet.

We weren't sure what to do. We figured we would pull up and there would be people all over the place, waiting in a line. There was nobody around. By 7:30 we started noticing people who were obvious Twilighters, starting to drive by. We figured we better just suck it up and go stand next to the theater doors because if a line was going to form, it might as well form behind us. Minutes after we started a line, we saw a mother and daughter walking up the street with backpacks and chairs.

And then it was on.

Every ten minutes or so, another few people, mostly young girls, would walk up carrying backpacks, chairs, sleeping bags and pillows. After there were about 15 people in line, someone from the theater came out and told us that we could not be so close to the theater door and showed us where the line was to start. We knew we were not the "official" line but it was a good start. What we were worried about was that eventually someone from Summit was going to come and start the real line, most likely somewhere else. Total crap shoot if we would still be in front or not.

So we waited...

and waited.

We had been worried about what we were going to find in the area in the way of food and facilities. We were pretty well covered in both areas. Starbucks right next to the theater. California Pizza Kitchen across the street. BJ's Brewery on the other side. Not to mention, Taco Bell, a 24 hour Subway up the street and an In N Out burger a block away. All with bathrooms. The latest open being the In N Out, until 1am.

We also made fast friends with the lady and her daughter in line behind us. Lisa and her 12 year old, Maddie, from Sandy, Utah. Within about a half hour of meeting her she was already giving us access to her hotel room up the street for bathroom breaks and showers. We had our own hotel room but ours turned out to be about two miles away. Hers was two blocks away. When we realized how far away our room was, we decided to cancel our reservation and take our chances on the street. After talking with Lisa more, she told us that she had over booked and actually had two different hotels booked for Monday night. We really weren't going to need a room for Sunday, but we most definitely were going to need one for Monday since we had wrist bands for the Hot Topic Twilight Tour on Tuesday. We ended up taking over Lisa's reservation for Monday. It saved her from getting charged for a room she wasn't even going to use. We had a bathroom. She had a place close by to leave her luggage until Monday night. It worked for all of us. Little did we know at the time how badly we were going to need that hotel room.

We knew that Borders Book Store up the street was having a podcast that afternoon but we had heard there was only 100 wristbands and that people had been lining up for it early that morning so we never even bothered with it. Lisa and Maddie walked over to the bookstore while we held their place in line, along with their laptop and purses. Do we have trustworthy faces or what? Not too long after they left, we got a call from one of them saying that there were still spots for the podcast. R and A-boo boo wanted to go so we let them just walk off to find the bookstore. In LA. Streets full of people. Two girls, 15 and 14. Now when I think about it, I shudder just a little. and it gets worse too That just shows how tired we already were. Especially when they called to say they were lost and couldn't find the bookstore. I didn't even panic. C came back from trying to gather up menus from the local eateries and when she found out the girls had gone to the podcast, she was off to find the bookstore too. They finally all ended up at the same place, safe and sound.
