They stuck in Newark.
18 kids and 6 chaperones were returning today. The rest of the group was staying in New York at their own expense. They were due to fly out of Newark airport at 3pm today, catch a connecting flight in Dallas and be home by 9:30 tonight.
Their flight was cancelled because of severe thunderstorms. Apparently, there is some pretty ugly weather happening on the East Coast today. The choir director, who left for Washington D.C. this morning, was able to get rooms for the kids so they don't have to spend the night at the airport. I will gladly reimburse him or the music boosters, who ever is paying, for her share of the room and the pizza they ordered for everyone. I am so thankful they didn't leave the kids hanging.
I told R to consider this just one more story she has to tell when she gets back. She was really looking forward to being home but at this point, I think she is so tired that she is just glad she has a place to sleep tonight that doesn't involve sitting up.
They are going to get back to the airport early tomorrow morning to see if they can get an earlier flight to Dallas but from there, I don't know what the plan is. I don't even think they know yet.
